Zombie walk

Ieri sera a Silver Spring c'erano gli zombie.

Yesterday night there were zombies in Silver Spring.

Sono le otto e sto morendo dal sonno, sono proprio vecchia dentro... e comunque yoga e bicicletta (controvento) mi hanno un po' provato, diciamo, quindi me ne andrò a dormire molto presto.

Ma prima ascolto un po' di Ayreon - The Theory of Everything, altrimenti GeaX (il mio guru musicale) non mi parla più perché ho il cd da quattro giorni e non l'ho ancora ascoltato. Infatti ha concluso la conversazione con "Spengo tutto allora, inutile stare qui a parlare di musica se commetti simili nefandezze".

Però ho deciso di postare più musica in questo blog e sono sicura che apprezzerà la seguente scelta.

It is 8pm and I am sleepy, I am really old... anyway, yoga and bike-riding (against the wind) were a little too much for me and I am going to bed really early today.

But before that I listen a little to Ayreon - The Theory of Everything, or GeaX (my musical guru) is not going to talk to me anymore because it is four days that I have the CD and I still haven't listened to it. 

I decided to share more music in the blog, and I am sure even GeaX will agree with this choice.

E' chiaro, quindi, che ho almeno un fantasma in casa, quindi per Halloween sono a posto.

A parte questo, le altre Ghost Stories (ovvero l'ultimo album dei Coldplay), mi è stato consegnato oggi da Babbo Natale/Amazon, assieme all'ultimo libro di Sophie Kinsella... Per questo mese prevedo che non finirò il libro per il book club.

Apart from this, the other Ghost Stories (from Coldplay) arrived today, thanks to  Santa Claus/Amazon, together with the new book from Sophie Kinsella... For this month I can foresee I am not going to read the book for the book club.

Ho comprato un affare per fare le uova sode al microonde... quadrate! Ecco il primo esperimento con l'aggiunta di formaggio e fagiolini. Già immagino come sarà facile incastrare l'uovo quadrato nei miei bento.

I bought an egg cooker to make boiled eggs in the microwave... square eggs! This is the first attempt, with the addition of cheese and green beans. I am already picturing how easy is going to be to pack square eggs in my bentos.

Per continuare dal post precedente, ho comprato i croissant alla zucca e il gelato alla zucca.

To recall the previous post, I bought pumpkin croissant and pumpkin ice cream.

Pumpkin season

E' già, è stagione di zucca... quindi, a parte il Pumpkin Spice Latte da Starbucks, compaiono tutte le varianti della zucca (più spezie: cannella, noce moscata e zenzero).
Lo scorso fine settimana mi sono comprata il preparato per fare i biscotti alla zucca, un po' troppo zuccherati per i miei gusti, ma buoni.
Questo weekend invece è toccato ai pancake alla zucca.

It is pumpkin season... and, other than the Pumpkin Spice Latte, all variants of pumpkin are appearing (pumpkin spice in particular).
Last weekend I bought the pumpkin cookie mix, the cookies are a little too sweet for me, but really good.
This weekend it was time for the pumpkin pancake mix.

Lucine di Halloween

Devo anche intagliare la zucca con la mia coinquilina, probabilmente domani che sono in vacanza per il Columbus Day (ho del lavoro al pc da fare, ma almeno posso stare a casa e dormire la mattina.... questo mi ricorda che devo ancora di disattivare la sveglia... fatto!).

I have to do pumpkin carving with my roomate, probably tomorrow because I am at home for Columbus Day (I have some computer work to do, but at least I can be at home and sleep more in the morning... that reminds me to deactivate my alarm... done!).

Due settimane fa sono andata a farmi fare la manicure e ho optato per il gel... che è durato due settimane (a me lo smalto normale dura mezza giornata, almeno ho avuto belle unghie per un pezzo)

Two weeks ago I went to the salon to have gel manicure, it lasted two weeks (the normal polish stays good on me for half a day, with the gel I had nice nails for a while)

Adesso sono invece passata al colore che più si addice per la mia anima dark

Now I have a color more suited for my dark soul

A proposito, sono stata al concerto dei Lacuna Coil, erano qui a Silver spring, non potevo perdermeli

Il pomodoro - the tomato

Nel disperato tentativo di avere dei pomodori che sanno di pomodoro e non di acqua, la scorsa primavera avevo deciso darmi al giardinaggio di interni (non ho nemmeno un balcone).
Ammetto che non ho un gran pollice verde, ma ho deciso di tentare la sorte.

In the effort to have tomatoes that taste as tomatoes and not water, last spring I decided do try to cultivate some plants indoor (I don't have a balcony).
I have to admit my green thumb is not really good, but I decided to try anyway.

il pomodoro adesso è così... rampicante più di un'edera... fiori non ne ha fatti e pomodori ovviamente men che meno... forse avrei dovuto potarlo, ma cresce così bene che sinceramente mi dispiace. Lo lascio crescere libero.

A fianco al pomodoro c'è anche una pianta di melanzane, che ovviamente ha un sacco di verde e zero melanzane. Fiori ne ha fatti, ma il mio tentativo di auto-impollinazione con cotton-fioc non è andato a buon fine a quanto pare.

Per fortuna un mio collega mi ha dato qualche pomodoro dell'orto che coltiva con i suoi amici da qualche parte in Virginia.

The tomato now is like this... a climber plant... it never had flowers nor tomatoes... it was probably better if I trimmed it, but it grows so well that I feel sad to do it. I leave it to grow free.

On the side of the tomato there is an eggplant plant, again with a lot of leaves and zero eggplants. It made flowers, but my attempt to pollinate it using a q-tip didn't work.

Luckily one of my collegues gave me some tomatoes grown in the garden he and his friends have somewhere in Virginia.

Foto delle ferie

Dato che non ne ho postate abbastanza durante la scorsa settimana, ecco ancora un po' di foto riorganizzate. Non ho nemmeno fatto fatica, Google ha fatto tutto da solo e montato una Google story, un po' di foto sono mescolate e altre non riesco ad inserirle, ma adesso non è che si può pretendere più di tanto se si decide di essere pigri.
Sono adesso di nuovo a casa a Silver Spring, in un momento di terribile nostalgia di casa, dopo aver passato una settimana in mezzo ad italiani e parlando italiano (cosa normale da fare alle Hawaii no?).
Prima che qualcuno lo chieda, non ci sono foto di Wilson perché me lo sono dimenticato a casa, non so come sia potuto succedere... comunque è decisamente offeso e non mi parla più.

Since I didn't share enough last week, here more pictures. They are reorganized, with no effort from me, by Google that sometimes makes automatic Google story, some pictures are mxed up and some others are missing, but if I want to be lazy I cannot demand too much.
I am now back in Silver Spring, feeling really homesick after a week with Italian people speaking my mother language (it sounds not weird at all to go to Hawaii to do that).
Before someone asks, there aren't pictures with Wilson because I forgot him at home, I don't know how that happened... anyway, now he is really angry and not talking with me.

Al mio ritorno ho trovato un paio di pacchettini, un po' di Natale anticipato per tirarsi su dalla depressione post ferie (problemi seri e vita molto difficile la mia).

Back home I found some packages for me, as an early Christmas to cope with the post-vacation depression (really serious problems in my life).
